Pushing Australia as a Business Event Destination
Tourism Australia are currently working on a program to boost Australia as a value for money business events destination. Along with a print advertising campaign to feature in key trade publications throughout the Asia Pacific regions, Europe and the States, they will be attending various trade shows globally.
Business Events Australia, the specialised unit within Tourism Australia, will be present at such shows as EIBTM in Barcelona, Spain in December 2009. This exhibition is designed to help organizations with meetings, conference programs and business travel, is expected to attract over 7000 visitors form 85 countries. Business Events Australia will be encouraging qualified international buyers to meet with Australian sellers in a business environment. Some of these buyers will have the potential to attract high yielding business events to Australia.
In October, Sydney was host to Australia's premier incentive travel trade event; 'Dreamtime'. Educational events were also held at various destinations throughout Australia. Since its inception, Dreamtime has developed a reputation as a leading trade show and educational program for the incentive tourism industry in Australia. The event attracts international business event decision makers from Asia, Europe and America and , as always, is a great opportunity to showcase Sydney as a world class destination for business events.
Another event attended by Business Events Australia was PAICE (Pacific Area Incentives and Conferences Expo) in Auckland in September. This event enables New Zealand based conference and event organisers to research and source products and services from a wide selection of offshore suppliers under one roof in one day.
For the first time in September 2010, PAICEplus will be coming to Sydney so Australian conference organizers will get the same opportunity. A joint venture between CIM magazine and ProMag Publishing Ltd., it will be a stand alone event encompassing the basic format and ideals of the Auckland event.
In a time of global financial uncertainty, this is not only great news for Australia as a whole, it is very encouraging for the exhibition and trade show industry.
